Tristan Owen

With over 13 years of industry experience, I consult to businesses running their own development projects, providing technical project management, user experience design, e-commerce strategy and WordPress development services.

I’m a director and co-founder of Clickshape, a User Experience focused Web Development agency based in London & Cape Town.

I graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2005 with a bachelors degree in Film and Multimedia and a postgraduate diploma in Enterprise Management.

As an enthusiastic graduate, I did a short internship with Quirk (now Mirum) before co-founding my first company MyVideo, which was then a South African video sharing website. Thereafter, I acted as the Chief Operating Officer for my next startup MEDIAS, which developed turnkey web and mobile video-on-demand solutions and attracted customers such as Samsung, LG, Nokia and Vodacom.

After leaving MEDIAS, I founded Blue Note Media and offered web development and consulting services to a range of brands and clients including SACamera, NHU Africa and Warner Music Group.

In 2011, I co-founded Clickshape and in our first year of operation won a Bookmark award for our work on the ZANews website and video portal.

Now situated in London and Cape Town, our team has worked around the globe, and with a wide range of local and international clients including Red Bull, NedBank, SysPro, WebAfrica, Bio-Oil, Getaway and Mobile Guardian.

Clickshape has also provided services to foundations such as Slum Dwellers International, The Put Foot Foundation, RescuePaws Asia and Project Isizwe.

In 2017 I became involved in an exciting teach and volunteer organisation helping people experience unique and rewarding cultural adventures abroad. Find out more about TravelBud.

I’m an aspiring blues guitarist and love all things space. I particularly enjoy Phil Plait’s Bad Astronomy column and Niel de Grasse Tyson’s Startalk Radio podcast.

You can find me on Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn or drop me a line and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
